Under Construction!

Hey everyone! I know I’ve been a little MIA around here lately, so sorry! It’s been a beautiful and crazy summer, filled with wonderful weddings and lots of time in the sun. I’ve got a LOT of new stuff comin’ your way, but I’m revamping my blog first! I know, I know. I did that just last fall, but I decided that I want this space to reflect my personality and style a little more. It’s gonna be great! And I can’t wait to share my little blog’s makeover with you. As always, I’ll leave you with a couple teaser pictures of what I’ve been up to lately :)

Mac Doctor

Wozers. Haven’t blogged in a while, but I promise I have a semi-legitimate excuse (besides being at the beach)! Mr. Computer has been acting strange and is off getting fixed this week so I can’t really share any pretty pictures with you guys. Sadness! Anywho, I’ll be back next week with my macmac so hopefully this little blog will be back in action! Hope you all are having lovely weekends!

Charleston Sunrises

Every time I go somewhere, I try to get up at least one morning and watch the sunrise. I love sunrises. I mean I would choose to watch the sunrise over the sunset any day. So, last week in Charleston, Brendan and I made sure to get and watch the day start from the beach. We woke up at 5:45 and headed down to the water with our quilt and crossword puzzle in hand to watch the sun come up. And my was it beautiful…

But, alas, it was cloudy! This made for great cloud classification (^^ alligator eating a fish, anyone?), but not the most ideal circumstances for watching that little ball of fire come up over the horizon.

So, a few days later we set early alarms and got up once more to watch the sun come up. And it was perfect.

And this right below is a Brendan original. Such pretty light! I always love when he wants to take a picture. He even sacrificed his feet to wretched sand spurs to get this shot. True dedication.

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.

NC Museum of Art

No.1 I love art.

No.2 I love Diana.

No.3 I love that Diana loves art too.

No. 4 Our afternoon at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh was splendid.

I you ever have a few hours, you should definitely spend them here! They’ve got tons of really neat pieces and an entire outdoor trail/park. There’s a really fantastic field that just begs to be frolicked in. Diana is one of my coolest friends and we had such a fun time feeling cultured as we looked at art and talked about traveling the world. Are we sophisticated? You bet! Here’s a few of my favorite shots from our artsy adventure!

Family Vacation

I love waking up and being able to go straight down the beach. I’ll be in Charleston with the fam for the next few days, so I get to do that every. single. day. Happy! When I get back I’ll have wedding pictures and an engagement shoot to post! Hope you all have a great week!

Carolina Inn Tea Party

Tea parties are so fun. Seriously, I had such a great time taking these pictures! The Carolina Inn is so beautiful and classy, so I was really excited when Shannon, my roommate and coffee-drinking friend, asked me to take pictures of a senior girls tea party she and a friend were hosting. It was so cool to listen to them point out how each of their friends have influenced them and loved them over the last four years. Such a wonderful group of girls. Anywho, here are some of my favorite shots of the day! I love the way they came out, kind of reminds me of film.

Also, happy Memorial Day!

Today is a big day…

Today I’m shooting my first solo wedding.

Whoa.

Excited doesn’t even begin to cover it! It’s so cool to see how God has blessed my pursuit of professional photography, and this wedding is just one of many ways. Alli (my lovely friend and assistant) and I are here in the Outer Banks for Jessica and Steven‘s beachfront wedding. It’s going to be beautiful. I did their family portraits today and had such a great time getting to know the family.  While it’s definitely a big day for my career, it’s huge moment in Jess and Steven’s lives, and it’s so fun to be a part of it. They love each other so much.

On another note, I’ll probably look exactly like this guy:

Just kidding. I don’t have a walkie talkie, so that’s impossible. Anyway, as you’re reading this right now, I’m probably having the time of my life, doing what I’ve wanted to do for quite some time now. Can’t wait to show you guys!

Lake Adventures

This was one of the greatest weeks ever. Perfect timing too. The calm between the craziness of final exams and graduation. Our host, Steve, is one of the nicest guys ever and loaned us his house, boat and everything else that we could possibly want for the entire week. He’s pretty much the definition of generosity. The week was the perfect mix of laziness and excitement, and we did everything from tubing to laying out on the dock to playing board games on a rainy day. The whole week I felt like I wasn’t taking enough pictures, but got home and realized I had taken 888! I seriously I have a problem. Here are a few of my favorites!

Brendan’s masterpiece. So proud!

Such a beautiful sunset!

So one night we played truth or dare Jenga, which naturally led us to create super sized Jenga.

And a cap and gown photo shoot!

Favorite. Both the picture above and the lemons. Love lemons.
