artist tuesday: robert doisneau

So this man is one of my favorite photographers of all time. That’s why I overloaded you guys with so many of his pictures! I just couldn’t decide which ones I liked best. Anyway, he is a master at catching a moment (or at least asking for a couple to reenact it- ie the first image), and you know how much I love that. Remember, Henri Cartier-Bresson? Well if you loved his work, then you will surely adore Doisneau’s photographs. I love how he captures the everyday in Paris. Little things that happen in the street or at a cafe. Simple and brilliantly wonderful. Enjoy!

Le baiser de l'Hôtel de Ville, Paris 1950

Les jardins du Champs de Mars, Paris 1944

Le violoncelle sous la pluie, Paris 1957

Parisienne, 1969

Les coiffeuses au soleil, Paris 1966

Catherine Verneuil 1963

La gargouille de Notre Dame Paris, avril 1969

Le cadran scolaire 1956 (I feel like this kid all the time)

“The marvels of daily life are so exciting; no movie director can arrange the unexpected that you find in the street.”

Robert Doisneau
