artist tuesday: gustav klimt

Ok, so this guy is a little eccentric, but Becca and I still love him.  The first time I saw one of his paintings (“The Kiss”) was in an English book in high school just above an e.e. cummings poem.  His work is really unusual and abstract, which is different from most of the art I love.  Not to mention he’s got some awkwardly risque pieces as well (I’ll be sure to choose PG painting for this post).  Anyway, like most of the works I obsess over, I love seeing his paintings in person.  There’s just something about recognizing the individual brushstrokes that create the weird shapes that ultimately merge together to make a masterpiece.  His magnets are on my fridge and I’m guilty buying stationary that I’m too attached to to ever mail.  Enjoy!
